The beautiful country of Japan is the setting for this intriguing tale of love, deception and hate.

Chobei, once a great samurai, has been demoted to handyman at a second-tier inn where he meets and falls in love Miyo.

Akiyama is a samurai of power and has done great atrocities to his clan and now to Miyo.  The journey really begins when Cho leaves to right the wrongs of Akiyama and to find the woman he loves.

This novel is a wonderful peek into the world of the old samari practice and a fascinating read.  Mitch Davies keeps the pace moving with unexpected twists and turns along the way.
